AWANA Update – 2020/2021 Registration
After much discussion and prayer, we have decided to move forward with plans for AWANA this fall. We hold our plans loosely as we do not know what the coming weeks and months will bring. We do however, rest in the knowledge that the One who created all is still on the throne and is working in all things for His glory and our good. We ask for you prayers as flexibility as we navigate these still uncertain times.
Kick-off Night – Wednesday, September 30 at 6:00-7:00 p.m.
This event will take place outside in the church courtyard and includes singing, fun message and break off into groups for team activity. Parents are welcome! Please send your child with a sweatshirt or something similar for them to sit on as they will be in the grass that night. In case of inclement weather, Kick-off Night will take place the following week on October 7.
AWANA Club – Wednesdays from 5:45-7:15 p.m. beginning October 7
Additional safety precautions will be added this year, including:
- Each club will stay as a unit (Cubbies with Cubbies, etc) to minimize contact between groups. Directions on where each club should enter the sanctuary will be at the registration tables.
- Games will be outdoors whenever possible. We will have outdoor lights and ask that you have your kids dress appropriately for outside games.
- Snacks will be prepackaged. Cubbies will continue to get organic animal crackers that will be in a snack bag packaged by someone wearing gloves and a mask. Sparks will continue to have an optional granola bar available.
- Hand sanitizer and water will be provided for after game time.
What is AWANA?
AWANA is open to any students in 3K – 6th grade, whether or not they attend GraceWay Church. It meets on Wednesdays from 5:45-7:15 p.m. during the school year. AWANA is a fun and exciting program that introduces kids to Jesus Christ and helps them along in their faith journey. Kids spend part of the evening together with their age group for a time of playing games, singing songs and learning more about God from an adult speaker. They also spend time in a small group digging deeper into God’s word and the evening’s lesson with their leader.
AWANA is divided into three different age groups:
3K and 4K (a child must be age 3 by Sept. 1, 2020 to join Cubbies)
Kindergarten – 2nd grade (a child must be age 5 by Sept. 1, 2020 to join Sparks)
3rd – 6th grade
